Deutsch Ostafrika

German East Africa (Deutsch-Ostafrika) was a German colony in the African Great Lakes region, which included what are now Burundi, Rwanda, and the mainland part of present Tanzania (formerly known as Tanganyika). Its area was 994,996 km2, nearly three times the area of present-day Germany.

Emperors during this time were Wilhelm I (1871-1888), Frederick III (1888) and Wilhelm II (1888-1918).

Governors were Herman Wissmann (1895-1896, first) and Heinrich Schnee (1912-1918, last)

The envelope contains Mi 30-39 (1905/19) without Mi 37 (60m) but with Mi I (1905, 3 Rupees).  It is cancelled in the right time phrame, but might be a philatelistic item since it is not adressed to anybody.  Nevertheless a very nice TAVETA Deutsche Feldpost cancellation 23.6.15
